UK Army Fitness Requirements

To join the British Army, you must pass the following fitness tests:

  1. Pre-Joining Fitness Assessment (PJFA)
    • Multi-Stage Fitness Test (MSFT/Bleep Test): Achieve level 8.7 for males and level 6.6 for females.
    • 1.5-Mile Run: Complete the run within a specific time based on your age and gender. For example, males aged 18-29 must complete it in under 10 minutes and 30 seconds.
  2. Strength and Conditioning Tests
    • Mid-Thigh Pull: Lift a minimum weight of 46 kg.
    • Medicine Ball Throw: Achieve a minimum distance of 3.1 meters.
  3. Other Requirements
    • Push-Ups and Sit-Ups: Complete a certain number of repetitions based on age and gender within a set time.

UK Police Fitness Requirements

To join the police force, you must pass the following fitness tests:

  1. Fitness Test (Bleep Test)
    • Multi-Stage Fitness Test (MSFT/Bleep Test): Reach level 5.4, which equates to running back and forth over a 15-meter distance within a set time that gets progressively shorter.
  2. Job-Related Fitness Test (JRFT)
    • Dynamic Strength Test: Perform a series of push and pull exercises on a resistance machine.
    • Endurance Test: Engage in exercises such as running or cycling that test cardiovascular fitness over a set distance and time.
  3. Other Requirements
    • BMI: Maintain a healthy Body Mass Index (BMI) within the range of 18.5 to 30.
